Slow progress

I feel like a 4-year-old kid waiting for dad to get home. I am sitting here watching out the window waiting for Josh to get home, and I get so excited when I see a car slow down. Too many days off in a row makes me a crazy lady.
On another note, look at this beautiful quilt my mom made! I am so impressed with her. I absolutely love it and I can't wait to hang it on Janes wall! The nursery is coming together. We have all big purchases made like the crib, chair (which is a lazy boy per joshs request) and a beautiful dresser. Now I just need to figure out where to put everything... 3 weeks to go!
Oh crap I can't upload a picture. I guess you will have to wait to see the quilt and nursery. Why won't blogger take pictures off an iPad? That's dumb.
So my last doctors appointment I had basically made ZERO progress as far as this baby coming out is concerned. Hopefully tomorrow I will have better news but it is doubtful because I still haven't felt a contraction- even though my doctor said I was having one when I was with her last week but I'm pretty positive I wasn't.
Anyways, wish me luck with the room and the baby progress.

Getting Closer...

6 more weeks!!! I could not be more excited for this little girl. I just lay awake at night thinking about how great it will be to snuggle her between Josh and I. I'm not going to lie- I am way nervous but I know I can do it if I have Josh's help. As for right now, we are sleeping in as much as we can and going on dates as frequently as possible because I know those days are about to end. Can't wait to meet you Jane!!

This is the second Christmas and hopefully the last Christmas that I don't get to spend with my bff. She is doing much better things with her time- in fact she is dedicating her time to the true meaning of Christmas- she is bringing people to come to know our Saviour. I am so proud of her and jealous of her amazing experiences down in Concepcion, Chile.

Along with teaching people the gospel, she is also teaching her companion that white people actually do have armpit hair- they just shave it. The two of them apparently had a little razor lesson. Good work Ann.

And just in case you were wondering... The count down is on and she has 4 months and two days until she is done!! Even though I probably won't see her for 4 months and 10 days because the fam is going to do some traveling on the way home with her while Jane and I hold down the fort here. I'm just a little excited to bother her with my meaningless stories and to go get yogurt at midnight and to go shopping and to steal her music and clothing. Love you more than life Ann!

Ok I admit it. I am a horrible roommate. Poor Joshua. He is definitely the clean one in our relationship. I really do want to be better. How do I find this desire to be clean?? I honestly could live in a pigsty the rest of my life and be content. How do I change this??

Turkey is on my mind for a couple of reasons at the moment: A- because it is already freakin November!! Which means turkey day is just a few weeks away (which means black Friday is just a few weeks away- wahoo!)

And B: because Josh is in Instanbul this week for work. BTW I just noticed that it is next to Iraq and Iran and all those places. At least the earth quake happened before he got there :) I wish I had a better picture than this map, but the only thing he takes pictures of when he's traveling is the food. I don't know anyone that loves food as much as this boy does.

Amigos

About a month ago we went up to Josh's Dads cabin for a fun filled evening with our friends from our old ward. Can I just say that I LOVE these people!! We have so much fun together! I am so grateful for that little basement apartment I lived in for 3 years because we were able to make life long friendships!

Then this weekend Lisa put together a murder mystery dinner. This was such a blast! Everyone went all out with costumes and acting and not to mention excellent food! I miss our old ward so much but I know we will be amigos no matter how far away we live:)

Will someone please teach me how to do a serious/sexy face. No matter how many times I try I still look like an idiot. I need to give up trying but I was trying to be in character!!

House update

Here is the almost finished project of the living room. It has come a long way since the orange shag carpet. We got new windows, painted everything and new carpet. We are still waiting for this awesome chair to get reupholstered. We took it to this 88 year old Dutch man! But if anyone of you are considering reupholstering- don't do it. It's less expensive to just buy a new chair, unless of course you are talented enough to do it yourself unlike muah. Anyways here is the before,during and after!

Last weekend we went to New York for a quick getaway. I freakin love that place! And I am now brainwashed with the Wicked soundtrack. It is honestly in my head all day long and I love it!! The excuse for the trip was to visit Josh's brother (kind of brother) and wife. He is going to medical school out there. It was so fun to see them living everyday life in NYC. (I have to say I am very greatful for a car and my mountains)

My mom was out in Philadelphia for work so her and my dad came and met up with us for a few hours.

And just to make all of you jealous I have to tell you that we won lottery tickets to Wicked!! We were FRONT Row for $25 bucks each. It was amazing! If anyone has not seen this you have got to go!!
We also saw Sister Act which was very entertaining. It fulfilled my love for Whoopi.

Destruction

This new project is overwhelming! I am so grateful for all of the help we have had. This week my dad came and pulled the pool out. It took 3 loads of topsoil to fill it! He had to take his tractors apart to fit through the garage. He is also fixing the living room floor that is about to collapse. Then Joshs' dad is helping to make us a closet and repair the wall that Josh tore down. It's coming along. I just hope we can move in with the carpet and hard wood down!

My beef

Beef = BFF = Jeremy. He calls me his beef and I love it! Jeremy is my little brother and we have a lot in common. For some reason I have a strange connection with this sibling. This week I am staying with my little brother because the rest of the fam is at Pioneer Trek. Let me just give you a little taste of what Jeremy is like: He is obsessed with guns, he talks your ears off (for example he really has talked non-stop all day and I was so glad when he told me he had to go to the bathroom because I would get a break- oh no I was wrong. The conversation continued while he was three rooms away taking a dump), he doesn't like to be dirty, he HATES practicing the piano, he wants to be just like my dad. This kid is one of a kind. Here are some of the funny pictures of him

Flag football- jeremy takes after his dad in that he doesn't really get the whole sports that use balls. He just likes to run around and chat with his teammates. He's not a big fan of actually catching the ball.

Haha his face is priceless in this one! I hope you can see it because its hilarious. (I so wish I could say that cute driver was me but it's not, it's our long lost sister Alex from The Netherlands)

Jeremy on halloween. I don't think he has ever actually walked to go trick or treating. He is always dressed up like someone that needs a horse as an accessory. Ie: zorro, indian, batman?? etc

Jeremy was caught lounging in the bathtub reading his horse magazine. bahaha!! He is so embarrassed by this picture.

This picture needs some explaining: My dad was doing some yard work and decided to cut down a tree. Jeremy was devastated and said that this tree was his favorite tree. (keep in mind that we seriously have at least 50 trees in our yard) so Jeremy decided that he loved this tree so much that he was going to keep it. He halled all of the branches into his room and they stayed there for quite some time. What did I tell you- he is one of a kind!

He kept trying to drag me downstairs so I finally went with him and he showed me this! He had pulled all of the guns out of the safe so he could tell me "These are worth all the money on the world to me Kate" Love him.

PS - I never finished Europe because I got distracted- but Paris was great!

Part 3 -- Italy

Italy was great! I have already been there with my sister so it was fun to go with Josh this time and relive all the memories Anna and I have there. Enjoy the pictures!

First stop was Cinque Terre.

Then down to Rome.

We did all of Rome in one day! There was LOTS of walking but it was good to cram it all in so we could go back to Interlaken.

Part 2 Switzerland

Switzerland was our favorite place. It was magical!! (ok so it was a lot like utah with the mountains and such but maybe that is why I love living here) We stayed in the city of Interlaken. The alps were amazing! We got to go canyoning, river rafting, hiking, swimming, etc. The city was so clean. I could have stayed there forever. In fact we even switched our trip around while we were there so that we could come back.

Europe Part 1

Josh and I went to Europe for a couple of weeks with my cousin and his wife. It was such an adventure! We went to 5 different destinations for a few days each: Amsterdam, Interlaken, Cinque Terre, Rome and Paris. It was such an amazing trip!!

I just need to vent a minute about my poor face before I start with any updates. I went hiking with my mom on Monday up to our cabin. It was so much fun. Beautiful day, great work out, and we had the only foot tracks in a good 4 feet of snow. A few hours later I looked like this:

At first I just thought it was funny with the ugly raccoon eyes, etc. But then a few days later I turned into this:

It blistered and got sooo swollen. Look between my eyes... It is flat! ugh I am miserable. The picture really doesn't capture the awfulness of this.

And moving on...
For the updates:
1 - I am now a college graduate!! I just need to pass my boards and get a job :)
2 - We pretty much have our trip to europe all mapped out. It has been stressful to plan but now that it is close I am getting way excited!
3 - Roberta had triplets!

My parents have a few sheep. We have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of these little things. Roberta had triplets and then the other momma (don't know her name) had twins, but one of them died. I was able to watch the birth of the twins today and it was so cool to watch the motherly instincts of these sheep. So amazing!! I wish I had better pictures danget!

Other than those things life is the same. Oh wait our honda broke down this week. That is a bummer. -especially because the volvos blinkers' don't work so sometimes you just have to drive straight when you really want to turn because you have no blinker to merge with. Do I just sound pathetically ghetto with this post?

Good thing is I get to talk to Anna in a few days!! We get to skype her and I am so excited to see her!

WORK!

I am getting a little stressed out about finding a big-girl job, updating my resume, etc. It is kind of scary choosing which area I want to start my career in. A part of me really wants to stay in the Neuro ICU where I get to enjoy these kind of nights:

I really love my job. I love the crazy patients and awesome co-workers. I just get sick of the night shifts. My body gets so confused!

We are really blessed to have such good jobs right now. Josh works for Interbank FX. He is the manager over global sales. (hence the lonely nights I have to experience all too frequently) In fact, he is leaving tomorrow for London, Romania, Bulgaria and France. Yes I am jealous. I think you could say he is obsessed with work.

This is his location every night, all night :)

He loves the people he works with and what he does. I am so grateful he is such a hard worker. I never thought I could find someone who works as hard as my dad- but Josh is pretty much there!

I would like to share a few of my favorite things about my hubs in honor of his twenty-seventh birthday:

I love that he is a hard worker
I love that he strips down to his G's within seconds of walking through the door
I love when he sings sincerely, as loud as he can in the car
I love that he is a morning person and is SO happy when he wakes up
I love how he treats his mom and aunt connie
I love that he picks out his outfits the night before (so girly;)
I love that he puts up with my ghetto dinners
I love that he adores little kids and they love him back. My cousin Peyton can pick him out of the biggest crowd and come tackle him for a hug
I love how athletic and healthy he is
I love how supportive he is when we do things with my friends/family
I love how much he looks up to his older brothers
I love that he is extremely frugal
I love how he can do ANYTHING he puts his mind to
I love that he is so supportive of my school and other endeavors
I love that he lets me take the 'sports car' while he drives the volvo
I love what a good public speaker he is
I love that he is an excellent cuddler (only in the winter- not so much in the summer when I refuse to turn the a/c on)
I love how friendly and outgoing he is to everyone
I love when he gets in his weird dance moods and just moves around really fast while he watches himself in the window :)
I love that he always does my dishes
I love that he is so dedicated to his calling
I love to watch him be a good friend to the posse
I love nights when we lay in bed and both can't sleep so we talk for hours (rare occasion but I still love it)
I love that he loves the gospel
I love watching him play basketball and then come home and have him give me a play by play of his really good shots
I love that he will go on walks and hikes with me even though I know he doesn't want to
I love how giddy he gets about his favorite food: cereal, donuts and the IMC cafeteria
I love how much he adores his mission
I love how he has to have a ball with him every where we go and that he just throws it to random people hoping they will see it and catch it

I love that he makes me want to be a better person in every way

Basically I just really love this guy. Happy Birthday Joshua!

New additions

There have been a few new additions to the family over the last couple of months so I thought I would highlight them on this post. Number one is the NMAD scooter! It is now really ours. Josh thought I would want it for Christmas! How sweet of him ;)

The next addition is this sweet new car! It was $400 bucks! I really actually love it and love driving it. I sink way into the seat though so I can barely see over the steering wheel. It was quite the catch!

Baby Milo is finally here. This is Josh's sisters baby. First grandchild! Milo was born on November 8th. He is so dang cute!

Meet Romeo. He is the newest member of the Kasteler household. He is a really pretty fish. This is what you get for Christmas when your wife has NO IDEA what to get you!!

San Diego

A few weeks ago we went to San Diego with our amigos. It was so much fun. The weather was not the best but it was still a blast. We went to the Utah vs. San Diego State game... and I'm really glad I am still alive after that because Liz almost got us all in a fight with the SDSU fans... Way to go Liz.

Josh was doing A LOT of this- hence the annoyed look from me.

We donated a football to the ocean. I sure wish Pat could catch. (That is Taylor not Pat though. Taylor can catch.)

Halloween

Ann left for the MTC on September 29th and I have been missing her a lot. I am loving my new wardrobe and in return I promise to write a letter a week!

As for Porter, he died in his sleep yesterday. My dad found him underneath his tree in the morning while he was feeding him. It was a sad day in the Sieverts house. RIP Porter

Say Goodbye

Say Goodbye to my blogging for a while...Fall semester is about to begin and I have a feeling I won't be updating like I have during the summer. (PS I only have 2 more semesters to go!) I do have a couple quick updates before I go though...
My cousin Jess left for boot camp today. He just joined the National Guard. I am so proud of him. He is going to do amazing and he will be greatly missed at the family dinners! Good luck Jess!

Josh and I have been enjoying some nice romantic rides on a hard core, manly, pink scooter. Josh sold his car (why? I don't know) and is now riding a cute little scoot scoot. I'm not gonna lie though, it is pretty fun.

FYI- this is what happens when you hide the keys to that little pink scooter. Not a good idea. I think this picture looks like a CSI photo of a dead person. Freaky.

And our last adventure for the summer was a poker night up at the cabin with some great friends. I am the master at poker so if anyone wants to bring it on just let me know.

Mud on the tires

A couple weekends ago we went camping up Fairview canyon. It was so gorgeous up there. It rained almost nonstop but that made it so fun because then it was muddy. I haven't been this dirty for a long time. I felt like a 5-year-old again. It was such a blast!

Lake Powell

Lake Powell was so awesome this year! We had perfect weather, boat had a new engine in it, food was amazing as usual, no one got ran over, everything was just great! This is me and my sister Anna. She is going on a mission pretty soon here. I am going to miss her guts.

So these Jet-Skis are pretty much the funnest things ever! They are really hard to stay up on. You have to have a ton of balance and strength so it is really entertaining to watch people fight to stay up. This is Dad and Whit in mid-fall.

Josh loves the wake skate. He has learned that he doesn't fall as hard when his feet are not locked in like on a wakeboard. Thank you Anna for your good picture-taking skills.

Flaming Gorge

I have been to flaming gorge every year of my life for the annual Sieverts trip. My grandma has been every year for over 40 years!! It is so much fun just camping, eating, boating, eating, catching lizards, sitting on the beach, kayaking, and did I mention eating?

Josh is by far the favorite cousin. The movie kind of explains why. He just becomes one of the kids when there are 39 surrounding him. It is hilarious.

Fast food in foreign countries =

Yes can you believe it I am blogging twice within 24 hours.

So as you can see below Josh took a little trip to the ER a couple days after his trip. He was running the Ragnar relay race and ate his normal 4 donuts and a whole pizza to 'give him energy'. After the race he puked and then started having abdominal pain. It didn't go away all night. I thought it was his appendix so I made him go to the hospital. It turns out he has crap stuck in his gallbladder and needs to have it removed. bummer. Is he going to have it removed? Of course not. He knows more than surgeons do. Duh.

Love that boy :)

Anyone Hungary??

Josh went to Budapest, Hungary for work last month. FYI Hungary is in Europe (I didn't know that before this excursion) He said it was amazing! It sucks when he is gone. We get to talk quite a bit though. Usually t-mobile doesn't work out of the country but for some reason it did in Hungary, and therefore made his phone bill $500!! (thank you IBFX) Here are some pics he took. He's not so great of taking pictures when it is just him out there.

Summer Vacations

Our summer started off with two amazing trips!! First we went to Akumal, Mexico with my whole family. We had such a blast. My sister Anna is going on a mission in September so we kinda wanted to do a big family trip before then. We stayed in an all inclusive resort and ate so freakin much! The best part of the trip was probably the scuba diving in Cozumel. It was Josh's first time in the ocean and it was incredible. He is hooked now!

So we got home from Mexico Saturday evening. I worked a night shift that night and then the next day Anna, Josh and I left to Australia! Josh had to go there for work so Anna and I tagged along. It has been my life long dream to go there and dive the Great Barrier Reef. It was so incredible. We stayed in Sydney, Brisbane, and Port Douglas. Josh had to stay another week and then go to Budapest, Hungary. It totally sucks when he is gone. - But I am getting better at it. Here are some Australia pics:

KOREA!!

For Christmas Josh surprised me with a trip to KOREA!! I was totally shocked. He had to go there for work for 3 weeks so I got to spend one of the weeks with him. We left Januray 2nd and then I flew back on the 10th. He is still there until the 22nd. It was so amazing there! It was such a different place than I have ever been. Korean people are so cute and so hard to talk to! I wish I could speak their language. Here are some pictures of our fun times.

Hello Everyone,
I thought it was time for a quick update. Sorry I don't have any fun pictures to look at but I will tell you what has been going on with Josh and I for the last little bit.

1- We have accomplished the many holiday family get-togethers. ie: Christmas at 5 different households. 5 Birthdays in March, Easter, Mothers Day, etc.
2- Josh turned 25-years-old!!
3- I got into the University of Utah nursing school!! Big accomplishment for me
4- Josh is still undefeated at... DUNK BALL- correct me if I am wrong Mark
5- We played in our first ever doubles tennis tournament. We lost but it was so close. 7-5 in the last match.
6- We finished spring semester of school. Now I have the summer off and Josh starts again on May 18th. Poor kid.
7- We saw Wolverine!! And now I'm making Josh grow some lamb chops!

I think that is about it for now. Geez who needs to blog so often when I can just give a 6-month update with only 7 things?
Hopefully we can have some fun summer trips with lots of pictures!

Welcome to the blog about the life of Josh and Kate. We were married October 10th 2008 and we are loving almost every minute of it! :) We are both students at the University of Utah. Josh is working hard at Interbank FX and I am at IHC. Josh really wanted to start blogging so I told him that I would create one that he can update while he is bored at home waiting for me to come home. What a sweetheart. Life is so wonderful at the Kasteler household. Now you all can be apart of it!!
